At MRPS, we approach social emotional learning through a relational and restorative lens. At the core of our Social Emotional Learning philosophy are Restorative Practices and Collaborative Problem Solving, which highlight and elevate the need to create a strong sense of belonging, develop deep understanding of oneself and one another, manage emotions and develop empathy, and persevere through challenging or uncomfortable situations. Both Restorative Practice and Collaborative Problem Solving allow educators to meet learners’ needs while working to develop their social emotional learning needs.
